Straight answers.
The questions people actually ask about shipping a vehicle — answered plainly, including the ones where our policy is still being finalized.
Pricing & quotes
Will my price change after I book?
The price you see at checkout is the price we've committed to for your quote, and it's shown in full — with itemized basis lines — before you pay anything. Your quote carries an honest expiration date, so as long as you book within that window and the trip details don't change, the amount holds. If you alter the route, vehicle, or service level after booking, we'll re-quote transparently before anything is charged. We're still finalizing our written price-lock policy, and the exact terms will be shown before you book.
How does FREIGHTLINE calculate my quote?
Your quote is built from the specific details you enter in the wizard: the pickup and delivery route, your exact vehicle (identified by VIN or year-make-model), whether you choose open or enclosed transport, and standard versus expedited service. Each of those factors appears as its own line in the price breakdown, so you can see what drives the total rather than getting a single opaque number. Nothing is hidden or added later without showing you first.
Why did my quote come back as "manual review" instead of a price?
Some lanes are genuinely hard to price instantly — long or unusual routes like shipments to and from Hawaii are a common example. For those edge cases we route your request to manual review rather than show you a number we can't stand behind. You'll get a real, human-reviewed quote instead of an automated guess that might change.
How long is my quote good for?
Every quote has a clear expiration date shown right on the price screen — we don't imply a rate lasts forever. Transport pricing shifts with fuel, demand, and carrier availability, so we're upfront about the window in which the number holds. If your quote expires before you book, you can simply run the wizard again to get a fresh, current price.
Do you offer any discounts?
Discount programs are a decision still being finalized, so we won't advertise a promotion we can't honor. If and when specific discounts are offered, the details and any qualifying terms will be shown clearly before you book — never applied or promised vaguely. For now, the quote you see reflects our straightforward pricing with no assumed markdowns.
How much do I pay to get a quote?
Getting a quote is free and takes just a few steps in the instant quote wizard — you enter your route, vehicle, and service preferences and see an itemized price with no obligation. You only pay when you decide to book, and even then the amount and terms are laid out in full first. There's no charge or commitment for simply checking a price.
Booking & payment
What do I pay when I book?
Booking collects a deposit, and the exact deposit amount is shown to you on the checkout screen before you confirm — nothing is charged without your explicit consent. You also review and agree to the current, versioned terms of service as part of checkout, so you always know what you're agreeing to. The remaining balance and how it's handled are shown alongside the deposit before you commit.
Is my payment secure?
Payments are handled through Stripe, an industry-standard payment processor, so your card details are entered into Stripe's secure flow rather than stored loosely by us. Checkout also records which version of our terms you consented to, giving you and us a clear, honest record of the agreement. You'll see the full charge before confirming.
Can I book without creating an account?
Yes — you can complete a booking as a guest using just your booking email, no account required. If you decide later that you want a dashboard to track and manage your shipment, you can create an account with that same email and claim your guest booking automatically. Nothing is lost by starting as a guest.
Can I cancel my booking, and is there a fee?
You can reach out to cancel, and we want that process to be clear rather than buried. Our specific cancellation terms — including whether any fee applies to the deposit — are still being finalized, so we won't quote you a number we haven't committed to. The applicable cancellation policy will be shown to you before you book, so you'll know the terms at the time you pay, not after.
Are you a broker or a carrier?
This is a fair and common question in vehicle transport, and we believe you deserve a direct answer rather than marketing spin. The precise disclosure of our role in arranging your transport is presented to you as part of the versioned terms you review and consent to at checkout. We won't overstate our role or invent credentials — what you agree to is what's written in the terms shown before booking.
What happens right after I book?
Once your deposit is confirmed and you've consented to the terms, your booking moves into your dashboard (or is tied to your booking email if you booked as a guest). From there you'll see it under your active shipments with an onboarding checklist of any next steps. Each stage of the process is explained in plain language as it happens.
Tracking & delivery
How do I track my shipment?
If you have an account, your dashboard shows every shipment sorted into needs-attention, active, and history, with a timeline for each one. The timeline walks through each status in plain language, so you're not left decoding jargon about where your vehicle is in the process. You'll always be able to see the current stage and what it means.
Can I track my shipment if I booked as a guest?
Yes — a guest booking is tied to the email you used, so you can follow it without a full account. If you'd like the richer dashboard view, creating an account with that same booking email lets you claim the shipment and see its full timeline. Guest tracking is designed so you're never locked out of your own booking.
What do the shipment statuses actually mean?
Each status on your timeline comes with a plain-language explanation rather than an internal code, so you can understand what's happening at every step. Instead of cryptic labels, you'll see what the stage means for you and what typically comes next. The goal is that you never have to guess what a status is telling you.
How does the pickup window work?
When you quote and book, you select a pickup window rather than a single guaranteed minute-of-arrival, which is how vehicle transport realistically operates. Your chosen window is captured with your booking and reflected in your shipment details. We aim to be honest about timing expectations rather than promising exact-hour precision we can't control.
When will my vehicle be delivered?
Delivery timing depends on the route, the service level you chose (standard or expedited), and real-world conditions on the road. Your shipment timeline reflects the current stage and progresses as your vehicle moves toward delivery, with each step explained as it happens. We'd rather keep you accurately informed than commit to a specific date we can't guarantee.
What if I need to update details on an active shipment?
If something about your shipment needs to change, start from the shipment in your dashboard, where its current status and details are laid out. Changes that affect the route, vehicle, or service may require a transparent re-quote before they take effect, and you'll see any adjustment before it's applied. Nothing about your booking changes silently.
Accounts
Do I need an account to use FREIGHTLINE?
No — you can get a quote and complete a booking entirely as a guest using your email. An account is optional and mainly gives you a dashboard to track shipments, see history, and work through an onboarding checklist. You can create one at any time, including after you've already booked.
How do I claim a booking I made as a guest?
Register for an account using the same email address you used for your guest booking, and that booking is automatically associated with your new account. From there it appears in your dashboard alongside its timeline and any needs-attention items. There's no manual lookup or reference number hunt required.
How is my login secured?
Account passwords are protected using scrypt, a strong password-hashing method, so your raw password isn't stored. Logged-in sessions use httpOnly cookies, which helps keep your session from being read by scripts in the browser. These are standard, security-minded choices for handling accounts.
What is the onboarding checklist on my dashboard?
When you have active shipments, your dashboard surfaces an onboarding checklist that guides you through the steps that still need your attention. It's there so nothing important gets missed as your booking progresses. Items clear as you complete them, giving you a simple sense of what's done and what's next.
What does the "needs attention" section mean?
Your dashboard organizes shipments into needs-attention, active, and history so the things requiring action from you rise to the top. The needs-attention group highlights bookings where a step is waiting on you, rather than making you scan everything. It's designed to make it obvious where to focus first.
How do I reset my password or update my account?
You can log in and manage your account details from your dashboard once you're signed in. If you're having trouble getting in, use the login flow's recovery option tied to your account email. Your account is keyed to the email you registered with, which is also how guest bookings are matched to you.
Coverage & claims
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Insurance coverage is an important question and one we won't answer with invented figures. We don't display coverage amounts or policy specifics we haven't finalized, because stating a number we can't back up would be dishonest. The applicable coverage details will be shown to you as part of the terms before you book, so you can review them at the time you commit.
Can you ship an inoperable or non-running vehicle?
Inoperable vehicles can be more involved to load and transport, and whether a given shipment can be handled that way affects pricing and handling. Rather than assume, we'd rather capture your vehicle's condition accurately so the quote reflects reality — and unusual situations may route to manual review for a proper price. Be upfront about the vehicle's condition when you quote so the number and plan match what's actually being shipped.
What happens if my vehicle is damaged during transport?
We take damage concerns seriously and won't paper over them with claims we haven't formalized. The specific process and any protections that apply are governed by the terms you review and consent to at checkout, which is where the real, committed details live. We avoid stating claim procedures or coverage we haven't finalized, and the applicable terms are shown before you book.
Do you ship to and from Hawaii and other hard-to-reach areas?
We can handle unusual lanes, but some of them — Hawaii among them — are complex enough that we route them to manual review instead of an instant automated price. That means you'll get a real, human-reviewed quote for those routes rather than a number the system can't stand behind. It's how we stay honest about lanes that don't fit a simple instant calculation.
What kinds of vehicles can you transport?
You can quote for a specific vehicle by entering its VIN or its year, make, and model, and you choose open or enclosed transport depending on how you want it carried. Enclosed transport offers more protection and is priced accordingly, with the difference shown as its own line in your quote. If your vehicle or situation is unusual, your quote may route to manual review so it's priced correctly.
Where can I find the full terms and policies?
The complete, current terms are presented to you at checkout, where you review and consent to a specific version before paying — so you're always agreeing to a defined, recorded document. Several policies, including cancellation terms and any coverage specifics, are still being finalized, and we deliberately don't state them until they're decided. Whatever applies to your booking will be shown to you before you book, not sprung on you afterward.
